You have the comfortable reception and a raised business area, then to your left the glazed off Plaza Lounge invites you in to enjoy coffee or relax before exploring the city. Soft leather seats, marble decorations and sturdy pillars surround you no matter which section you are in. Yes, this truly feels like Athens.

As you move though the hotel, the dark wooden paneling, brass fixtures, soft lighting and tiny doorbells on each room give the impression of being aboard a luxury ship, in fact, if you let your mind wander, you would swear you could feel the soothing sway of a majestic vessel cutting through the water. There are 159 rooms and 23 suites in total and provided you stay above the fourth floor in the front of the building, you will be treated to a wonderful view of both the Acropolis and the Parliament building, perfect for watching the famous changing of the guard. The Suites at the NJV Athens Plaza hotel are beautiful and much thought has gone into giving each its own unique character. Regardless of which designer has supplied the furnishings, each retains a special Greek flavour and never becomes just another faceless hotel room. Take for example the amazing Fornacetti Suite, where architecture and art synonymous with Greece has been incorporated into the furniture – such as intricate pillar tops becoming the backs of the chairs and Greek pictures are formed with the use of decorative plates on a wall.
